Our photography classes will help you understand and use your camera better, no matter what your current level of skill.
Classes are designed to meet a variety of interests, from learning to use your point-and-shoot camera or SLR to exploring the creative possibilities of film photography in our darkroom.

Intro to Digital Photography
Wednesdays 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Next Starting Date: March 7th
This 6-week class is for those new to digital photography and would like to understand their cameras better. All forms of digital cameras are welcome, but digital single lens reflex cameras are recommended if you plan to explore digital photography on a professional level.
Learn basic operation of your digital camera as well as principles for taking good photographs by completing weekly guided assignments. Topics covered will include: camera operation, composition, color temperature, resolution, ISO, and how to download your photos and store them on your computer. Bring your camera and manual to the first class.

Intro to Black & White Film Photography (Darkroom)
Mondays 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Next Starting Date: March 5th
Explore photography in its original form in this unique six week course designed to teach the fundamentals of 35 mm film photography. In addition to learning shooting techniques, you will also process your own negatives and create photographic prints in Spot 5’s darkroom! The class will be comprised of lectures, demos, and guided weekly shooting assignments that will increase your skills as a photographer.
If you do not have a 35 mm film camera, Spot 5 has rentals for a reasonable cost. Topics covered will include: basic camera operations, film developing, making contact sheets, printing enlargements, and compositional skills. Bring your camera and its manual to the first class. In addition, all enrolled photography students have darkroom access during open studio hours. Darkroom reservation required.

Creative Photography
Monthly: Sunday 2-4pm
Next Workshop: TBA for March
Once a month Leslie Doyle leads a small group in creative endeavors in photography. Each workshop will be dedicated to a specific topic that will be pre-determined. Everyone is welcome in these workshops, and should know these will be group guided workshops focusing only on the specific topic for the month. This is a great way to explore different areas of photography that many are not familiar with beyond digital.
Cost: $45 (All materials are included)
