Pottery & Ceramics

Our ceramics studio is small, but it holds big ideas.  CreaLiz_Hamstra.jpgte hand pieces or learn to throw.  Classes are relaxed.  Beginners are welcome.  And more experienced students can arrange open studio times for independent work.

Registration fees include firing time for instructional classes. Clay and tools are available for purchase at the studio for a discount. Recycling used clay is encouraged.

BASIC CERAMICS
Thursdays 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Saturdays 2:30 - 4:30

Basic Ceramics is a good choice for those who are new to ceramics and those who have taken a long hiatus from working with clay. You will learn structural and decorative rules and properties, create several pieces and explore new techniques and materials  All Basic Ceramics students practice wheelthrowing as a part of their curriculum.

This 6 week class focuses on the basics of hand building, pinch, coil, slab and surface treatment. Students also learn the basics of wheelthrowing!   This class is a great way to get your hands into clay. Students who wish to can continue month to month.

Cost:  $195 / 6 week initial enrollment
          $115 / 4 weeks for continuing students

WHEELTHROWING
Thursday 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Saturday 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

The Wheelthrowing Class offers instruction in mastering the wheel as well as understanding the different types of clay bodies, glazing and firing techniques.

Beginners are welcome in this class, but the Basic Ceramics class is recommended for those who have never worked with clay.

This is a six-week class.  After completing the introductory curriculum, students may continue this class as a studio class on a monthly basis.

Cost:  $195 / 6 weeks initial enrollment
          $130 / 4 weeks for continuing students

Thursday 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Independent Study is offered to experienced clay artists and independent spirits alike. Spot5 offers these classes as a way for students who don't require much instruction but would like to access the amenities of our studios and cross paths with other artists.

Independent Study students have access to the ceramics studio for two hours on Thursday - 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. and at other times by arrangement. Students are responsible for their own materials and studio clean up.  Four firings a month are included in the studio price.

Cost:  $85 / month
